It’s not all meant to feel comfortable

Some entries in the notebook seem to be fragments from the novels. Others read like the author’s notes to  himself. A smaller number record reactions from people who read the work as Mark wrote it. Sometimes it’s hard to distinguish between them. Not all of them are easy to read.

The following entries are typical:
